The Tasmanian Shellfish Harvest Area dataset depicts the areas managed by the Shellfish Market Access Program Regulatory Services. The LIST Shellfish Harvest Area Boundaries dataset is not intended to supersede or replace any lease area or marine farming zone boundaries designated in Marine Farming Development Plans, or otherwise by the Aquaculture Branch of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment. The LIST ShellMAP Harvest Area Boundaries dataset is provided for convenience of reference only. The boundaries described are indicative of the areas which are classified as either conditionally approved or restricted, for the taking of regulated fish. The LIST ShellMAP Harvest Area Boundaries is intended to be a spatial reference only. It does depict legal status of harvest areas. For information relating to harvest area status or coordinates of boundary corners, please contact ShellMAP.

The LIST ShellMAP Harvest Area Boundaries layer depicts shellfish harvest areas that are currently classified under ASQAP and actively managed by ShellMAP Regulatory Services. It does not depict historical harvest areas that may have been removed or had boundaries adjusted. ShellMAP Harvest Areas are devised based on the prevalence of actively farmed shellfish leases, following coastlines and encompassing the surrounding marine farming zones. Marine leases are grouped together based on water quality data that demonstrates like conditions among neighbouring leases. See LIST ShellMAP Water Quality Sample Sites layer for further information. ShellMAP Harvest Area Boundaries may be updated at any time, based on observed changes in water quality or changes in ownership or use of marine leases.
