Abstract |
This data set spatially depicts commercial fishing blocks for the Tamanian abalone and commercial dive fisheries. Information is stored in selectable area polygons showing fishing block and sub-block numbers. The base data is currently held in GDA 94 geographic datum (i.e., Latitude and Longitude).
Commercial fishers submit their catch and effort data to the Department of Natural Resources and Environment Tasmania (NRE Tas) for management, research and stock assessment purposes. The fisheries research is conducted by the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS). |
Lineage Description |
The data was originally created for use in the commercial Abalone and Commercial Dive Fishery Catch, Effort and Disposal logbooks and uses non-standard Tasmanian coastline.
The base data is currently held in GDA 94 geographic datum (i.e., Latitude and Longitude). As such, discrepancies will be apparent when used with standard (eg LIST) data sets. The spatial boundaries were interpreted from textual descriptions of restricted areas and are only meant to be indicative. The base data is currently held in GDA 94 geographic datum (i.e. Latitude and Longitude).
POSITION ACCURACY: Due to the lineage of the data an accuracy measure cannot be applied to this data except in very general terms. The position of any one boundary depicted in the spatial data may be up to 250 metres from the actual boundary. This layer should currently only be used for illustrative or indicative purposes, or very carefully used for spatial querying.
ATTRIBUTE ACCURACY: Attribute accuracy is estimated to be 95%.
LOGICAL CONSISTENCY: All data is checked for duplicate features and coincident features by visual means. |
