Abstract |
The State-owned road network consists of approximately 3500km of road. It is a subset of the broader road network that focuses on connectivity and movement functions at State and regional levels.
The State network primarily consist of roads that provide connectivity between cities, major towns, rural catchments and key port and air transport hubs. It is intended to provide a strategic classification for the management and planning of the State's transport system. |
Lineage Statement |
Roads were 'classified' according to their current and planned function, supported by traffic count, Tasmanian Freight Survey, connectivity to ports, airports and population centres. (Classification is 2007 and currently under review.) |
