The 1:50,000 raster images are derived from the topographic Tasmanian Map Books produced by Information Land Services (ILS), DPIPWE, for the Tasmanian Fire Service (TFS). The Tasmanian Map Book contained some restricted data. This restricted data was stripped out of the original files and new images were created for use.

The Digital Aerial Imagery Season Orthomosaics are compilations of aerial imagery captured for each flying season, during the summer season from October through to the following March. The mosaics are compiled from high resolution imagery, usually captured at 10cm and 25cm resolution.

This data shows the difference in the Normalised Burn Ratio (dNBR) between pre-fire and post-fire earth observation (satellite) imagery. This ratio uses near infrared and shortwave infrared imagery to highlight areas of vegetation impacted by fire.
