Abstract
Mining Lease polygons and production licence polygons for all mineral categories across Tasmania, with tenement information derived from the TIGER system; administered by Mineral Resources Tasmania (MRT), Department of State Growth. Mining Lease polygons delineate areas in which lease holders are permitted to conduct mining operations. Mining Leases may be granted over both Crown and private land, so long as that land falls under the Mineral Resources Development Act 1995. Mining operations include: obtaining and treating minerals, storing and containing minerals or waste material generated on a lease or another area, and activities associated with mining. Mining also includes production activities in relation to a category 4 mineral or a category 6 mineral.

Lineage Statement
Mining Lease polygons are derived from the TIGER system. The TIGER database is updated on a daily basis. Mining lease boundaries are based on the information provided by the lease holder and site inspections conducted by Mineral Resources Tasmania staff. Where a lease boundary follows cadastral boundaries, the boundary is defined by the survey of that land parcel. This information is obtained from the Plan of Survey held by the Land Titles office, Department of Primary Industry, Water and the Environment.
Lineage Description
Positional Accuracy: The positional accuracy of the boundaries is dependent on the accuracy of the information provided by the holder of the mining lease. Where a lease boundary is based on a survey, the accuracy of the boundary is defined by the survey. Attribute Accuracy: Tenement attributes are maintained in the TIGER system and are in accordance with the requirements of the legislation. Logical Consistency: All data is topologically related, all polygons close and all polygons are labelled. There are no duplicates. Completeness: Complete.
