Abstract |
Category 6 Exploration Licence polygons and Exploration Release Areas across Tasmania, with tenement information derived from the Tasmanian Information on Geoscience and Exploration Resources (TIGER) system; administered by Mineral Resources Tasmania (MRT), Department of State Growth. Exploration licence polygons delineate areas in which licence holders are permitted to explore for Category 6 minerals - geothermal substances. Exploration licences may be granted over both Crown and private land, so long as that land falls under the Mineral Resources Development Act 1995. Mineral exploration activities may include: geological, geophysical and geochemical surveys, drilling, and taking samples of rock, soil, water or other substances for analysis. Mining is not an exploration activity and cannot occur on an exploration licence. |
Lineage Description |
Positional Accuracy:
The positional accuracy of the boundaries is dependent on the accuracy of the underlying data it follows. Where possible polygon boundaries follow MGA grid (legacy data follows AGD grid), geographic features or administrative boundaries.
Attribute Accuracy:
Tenement attributes are maintained in the TIGER system and are in accordance with the requirements of the legislation.
Logical Consistency:
All data is topologically related, all polygons close and all polygons are labelled. There are no duplicates.
Completeness:
