A layer of information containing soil sample sites with accompanying fact sheets supports the suitability layers. These suitability layers combine new digital soil mapping techniques, modeled climate data and crop rules and will assist farmers and potential investors make more informed land use decisions based on the suitability of different enterprises across the study areas.
Each layer is produced at a sub-catchment scale of 1:50,000 and is not intended to be used at the paddock scale. DPIPWE is seeking feedback from users of this information as to how the product could be improved. Comments may be sent to LandManagementEnquiries@dpipwe.tas.gov.au. Further information is also available from the Wealth from Water website.

The scheme takes effect as of Wednesday 17 October, 2012. New scheme mapping is being prepared for publication on LISTmap. In the meantime, the scheme will be available at: www.launceston.tas.gov.au 15th June 2012 Updated Forest Group layer 15/06/2012 The latest version of the Forest Group dataset is now available on LIST. Forest Group provides an up-to-date overview of Tasmania's forests, especially the extent of industrial plantations. Forests are mapped into seven broad categories: Tall Native Eucalypt Forest, Short Native Eucalypt Forest, Rainforest, Other Native Forest, Hardwood Plantation, Softwood Plantation, and Non-Forest. It is based on photo-interpreted forest-type mapping of native forest structure, together with harvest and plantation information from forest companies. Data for private land is compiled by Private Forests Tasmania, and is accurate to December 2010. Data for public land is compiled by Forestry Tasmania, and is accurate to June 2011.
View Forest Group in LISTmap3rd May 2012 Planning Scheme data has been reinstated in LISTmap. 03/05/2012 The recent decision to remove the data from LISTmap was due to concerns that not all Planning Scheme amendments were available in this data. In reply to LIST user feedback the data has been reinstated, but with clearer advice to users that the data may not be current and users need to verify all Planning Scheme data with the relevant Local Government Authority, prior to making any decisions.
As new schemes are completed via the Planning Schemes Online project, existing LISTmap data will be replaced. New schemes will progressively become available, culminating in a single state-wide Planning Zone layer together with individual overlays.
The Spatial Information Foundations Project (www.dpipwe.tas.gov.au/sif) will also provide improved capacity for the management and maintenance of digital planning scheme data, which will ensure that the most current planning scheme information is provided through The LIST.
7th October 2011 Planning Scheme Changes 07/10/2011 Due to the complexities of maintaining up to date planning scheme data for all LGA areas, the following out of date Planning Schemes have been removed from LISTmap as of the 7/10/2011.
Central Coast Council, Clarence City Council and Beaconsfield. 15th July 2011 ShoreBase Study: Foreshore Values, Condition and Pressure for Northern and Cradle Coast NRM Regions 15/07/2011 Aquenal P/L presents Shorebase: An assessment of the values, condition and pressures of foreshores on the entire coastline, inc. National Parks and islands of the North and Cradle Coast NRM Regions. It depicts foreshore condition and risk of environmental stressors such as aquatic sediments, bacteria and pathogens, biota removal and disturbance, habitat removal, hydrodynamics, introduced species, litter, nutrients, pH and toxicants. Natural values relating to ecology and geomorphology are also identified, as well as human use values such as recreation and tourism use, commercial activity, amenities and heritage significance.
Intended for coastal managers, land users and community groups, the integrated approach can help improve our understanding of the interactions between humans and the coastal environment, whilst providing a basis for ecologically sensitive planning and management. View Tasmanian Reserve Estate Layer in LISTmap2nd March 2011 Sprents Book Mosaic - Bringing History to Life 03/03/2011 As part of DPIPWE's archiving project, historic charts & surveys from Tasmania's past are being turned into digital images. One excellent example is James Sprent's 1841 detail survey of Hobart. The individual pages of this survey have been scanned in high resolution colour and these digital images were then geo-referenced so that they can be viewed behind modern information in a GIS system. As a further enhancement, the individual images were joined to form a single image that could be made available via LISTmap.
The Sprents Book Mosaic has been put together from the scanned images taken of the individual pages of James Sprent's 1841 detail survey of Hobart. The mosaic does not include all pages of the original survey as there were duplicate pages for some town block. Each image was clipped along the street lines and then joined to form a single image. Further details about James Sprent and his detail survey can be found at the attached link here

Boundary segments are the spatial mapping of all cadastral boundaries within Tasmania. A boundary segment's spatial accuracy varies depending on its source, which is attributed to each feature. The lines were initially derived from 1:5,000 and 1:25,000 mapping data, but have been progressively upgraded over the last 10 years by the addition of new co-ordinated subdivisions and other spatial upgrade projects. To aid the user, features have been symbolised by colours into ranges indicating the level of accuracy.Warning: Users should be aware that this information is for general guidance and is not guaranteed. Users should not use co-ordinates derived from LISTMAP for the on-ground location of boundaries. Users also need to be aware that other LIST layers including aerial imagery may not have the same level of positional accuracy which may give the illusion of a discrepancy.
