LIST Content Policy

1. Purpose

The Land Information Coordination Committee (LICC) has established a set of principles to guide the LIST Management Advisory Group and potential data suppliers in assessing and preparing proposals for the addition of new data sets to be made available through The LIST.

2. Background

The Land Information Coordination Committee (LICC) is a whole-of-government committee established by the Minister for Primary Industries, Water and Environment as the principal coordination group for matters which involve inter-governmental action in relation to land information and for the development of land information policy and strategies for the Tasmanian government.

The LIST Management Advisory Group (LMAG) is a whole-of-government management group established by the LICC to operate and manage The LIST on a day to day basis. The LMAG has the authority to authorise the addition of new data sets to The LIST, in accordance with relevant LICC policies.

Data Set Proposal Guidelines

March 2002


These guidelines are to be used by organisations preparing proposals for the inclusion of data sets on The LIST. The proposal should address the following criteria.

1. Background

The proposal should briefly outline some background information including;

2. Data Set Details

Description

Describe the data, including its breadth, status and accuracy.

Related or Competing Data Sets

Outline any data sets that are related to the proposed data sets and also those data sets that may challenge the authoritative nature of the proposed data set.

Future Enhancements and Maintenance

Describe any planned enhancements to the data and describe the type and frequency of data maintenance. Outline any resources allocated to future maintenance and enhancements

Core Land Information Data Set (CLIDS) Classification

Identify the CLIDS classification for the proposed data set.
 

3. Criteria for Inclusion on THE LIST.

This section of the proposal should contain information that addresses each heading.

Land Related

Outline how the information is related to the land, water or sea bed.

Organisation prepared to act as Custodian

Identify the organisation that will undertake the role of custodian and complete a Custodial Memorandum of Understanding and enter the metadata into the Tasmanian Spatial Data Directory.

Data Access and Pricing

The Custodian agree to make the data available to third parties in accordance with the LICC Spatial Data Distribution and Pricing Guidelines and Model or that any costs associated with administering other pricing models be met by the Custodian.

Resolution and User Applications

Explain how the data set meets user requirements.
 

4. Prioritisation Criteria

In order for the LIST Management Advisory Committee to determine the priority of the data set each proposal should also address the following criteria.

User Demand

Identify the level of user demand for the data set.

Statutory Requirement

Identify any statutory requirements that effect the data set.

Political Imperative

Identify any political implications for the acceptance or non-acceptance of the data set.
