Description | |||||||||||
| Abstract | The LIST Boundary Segment is a straight line, arc, topographic feature, meridian or parallel that is used to build the various polygon datasets derived from the LIST CadArea (Cadastral Area) table within The LIST Cadastral Datamodel. This dataset is not intended to be used independently of LIST Cadastral datasets but may be of use in conjunction with these to ascertain the origin of a line or lines of a high order of accuracy. Boundary Segments may represent the boundaries of any one or a combination of the following polygon datasets derived from the CadArea table:.Authority Parcels, Private Parcels, Leases, Licences, Casements, Easements and Reserves Boundary Segments are not classified according to the polygon they have been used to create. A boundary segment may be used to create more than one polygon. | ||||||||||

| Access Constraints | All graphical and digital data produced by the Information and Land Services Division, DPIPWE is covered by Crown Copyright. Digital information is distributed under a Digital Data Licence Agreement (DDLA), or a Service Level Agreement (SLA) in the case of the 3 tiers of Government in Tasmania. These agreements define the terms and conditions under which the data may be used. | ||||||||||

Data Quality | |||||||||||
| Lineage | Cadastral information for most urban areas and towns was initially derived from the Tasmanian 1:5,000 orthophoto/cadastral map series. In remaining areas information has been generally sourced from the 1:25,000 topographic/cadastral map series. In compiling these map series, land parcel boundaries were originally plotted from bearing and distance obtained from the available land survey records and fitted to visible occupation using weightings of survey currency, error of close and fit tolerance to obtain the highest possible order of accuracy. Cadastral boundaries were captured from the map reprographic media by scanning and conversion to vector data. Subsequent cadastral information was added by digitising survey diagrams and fitting this data to the surrounding information. In some areas cadastral data has been sourced from Local Government Authorities. Maintenance of the Boundary Segments is by direct entry using co-ordinate geometry and where possible, been fitted to SPM's or defined grid co-ordinates. Adjoining boundaries are moved where necessary to fit to the high accuracy boundaries. Since June 2005, all new subdivision plans have been plotted and fitted to control with a tolerance of within 1 metre or better of true position. Adjoining surveys in most instances have been replotted and fitted at a higher order of accuracy to the new subdivision. | ||||||||||
| Positional Accuracy | The FEAT_FOL (Feature Followed) attribute field provides a single level attribute classification relating to the source of the line. A high accuracy source indicator is held in this field. Full details of the positional accuracy can be obtained from the feature Metadata Pointer (FMP). Boundary Segments generally were initially derived from the 1:5,000 and 1:25,000 map bases. The Positional Accuracy of Boundary Segments which have not been subsequently updated will generally conform to the following: Not less than 90% of well defined detail derived from the 1:5,000 orthophoto map base, is within 3.5 metres of true position. Not less than 90% of well defined detail derived from the 1:25,000 map base, is within 17.5 metres of true position. Later boundary lines may have been entered from a number of sources including input using co-ordinate geometry. Where available lines will be co-ordinated to a survey datum with an accuracy within less than a metre of true position. Some boundaries from data derived from Local Government Authorities may also be in the order of sub metre accuracy. As at June 2011 22% of all Boundary Segments are now within 1 metre of true position. Of these, 6% of boundaries are at survey accuracy. | ||||||||||
| Attribute Accuracy | Attributes have been assigned initially during the data migration process into The LIST Data Management System (DMS). System generated attributes are complete. It is estimated that not less that 99% of all attributes are correct. | ||||||||||
| Logical Consistency | Boundary Segments are topologically correct and will not include overshoots, dangles, free endpoints, intersections or duplicate overlaying lines. | ||||||||||
| Completeness | Boundary Segments for land parcel boundaries are complete. Some road casements are incomplete within rural areas. | ||||||||||
